Asus say their F3Sv-B1 notebooks has:
- NVIDIA GeForce G8600M GS built-in 256MB VRAM
- *Turbo Cache 512M with 1G Memory
- *Turbo Cache 1G with 2G Memory
- *DirectX 10 support
Why is the 8600M GS "underclocked?"
According to Nvidia's website at
http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_8600M.html the specification states that the GeForce 8600M GS should have:
Core Clock = 600 MHz
Memory Clock = 700 MHz
I checked my clock speed because a forum caught my attention at
http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?id= ... uage=en-us which showed the underclock they have. My clock speeds for the same graphics card are:
Core Clock = 500 MHz
Memory Clock = 400 MHz
The reason the GPU spec is different from our model F3Sv is below,
600 - Core Clock:This clock data depends on the different design of the internal voltage, so our F3Sv GPU Core Clock is 500 limited by our internal voltage design, it is normal.
700 - Memory Clock:This clock data is for VRAM DDR3 type, but the VRAM used on F3Sv is DDR2 type, and NVIDIA memory clock spec for VRAM DDR2 is right 400MHz.
Why Asus hide this information? It's not fair to get this information after you buy not cheap product. I think if Asus do not mention differencies, than we are misleaded!
